Cardillo's pictorial language talks about reality with a personal and original view. It is a strong expression in the use of colours and compositions to communicate aesthetic and emotional messages, to understand which the public need to share his code. For this artist, painting is a perpetual evolving creative act, the production of which need to not appear as static as a photographic image. He loves, indeed, to paint the action of conceive in his prime manifestation with figurative implications such as: elements compositions, geometrical views, compenetrations of planes and deforming shapes and colours.
The expressiveness, the simultaneity, the tridimensionality pursued in the canvas are realized in sculpture. The effects of light gives relief in the figure and in its articulation in the space. From the observation of the classic, through the Renaissance masters and the XIX’s expressionists sculptors, Cardillo creates small sculptures or large groups of environmental value, perfectly realized in the beloved material, the wood, especially the olive root, originally provided in nature of compound shapes, movements and cavities that become reminiscent of the sculptural work.
